walking the streets of durham since 2003

I adore my job, it
seems perfect for a gal such as me - what with my delightfully short attention span and a love for creatures with furry faces and soft eyes.
I was born in Michigan but found my way home to NC after graduating from Antioch college in Ohio. I started in Wilmington, then Durham, then Chapel Hill and back to Durham in 2003.
I took a job at the Whole Foods in 1998, and
became produce team leader in a jiffy (
I enjoyed the heavy lifting and the fruit wrangling).
In late 2002 I started to feel there was something else out there - then it hit me I was to be a walker of dogs and a friend to the felines, becoming co-founder of dogwalk in October of 2003.
and here I am today - still in love with the dogs and cats of Durham - still in love with walking the streets with my charges - making fantastic connections as I go.
At home I live with two dogs and two cats - Jackson, Beebles, Atticat and Nami.
Oh - and I love stepping on acorn tops and making them pop. |
Hannah Peele

|
Hannah and her husband moved to North Carolina in 2004. A month after settling, they were adopted by the first of their four animals.
Max, a tuxedo kitten- not larger than the rise of the stair descended into their hearts. Soon Max convinced his "people" that he required a play mate. Enter Georgia, the wonder dog. A fawn boxer/ pit mix who lived up to all of Max's dreams (and far exceeded Hannah and hubby's). Next, O.C. as in "Orange Cat" arrived at Hannah and hubby's door step asking for amnesty followed by Little Seymour, the vocal country boy cat.
With their household bursting at the seams Hannah and hubby's menagerie was complete. Today, Hannah loves dealing out the daily dose of walking and playing others' pets require.
With a heart overflowing she is ever so happy to be a dogwalk team member.
And her animals and hubby are happy that she is happy. |
Michelle Pearson

Michelle comes to us to escape her busy study schedule from the UNC School of Dentistry and return to her animal loving roots. She grew up caring for a fleet of personal pets ranging from itty bitty hamsters all the way up to gigantic horses, but now only has a small family with her border collie mix named Lindy and her 2 cats Mogwai and Wordsworth. After finishing college she spent about 4 years working in animal shelters in both Colorado and here in North Carolina, where she learned how to manage all types of animal behavior and medical conditions. Her final year of shelter experience was spent as a Vet Tech, completing her acquisition of the necessary skills to meet all your petsitting needs. |
Nick Fox

|
Nick is an animal lover to the core, and a lifelong vegan. When he's not hanging out with his favorite canine friends, he's most likely foraging in the fields and forests of the triangle- or at home in his garden. Much of his time is spent cultivating & wild-crafting medicinal herbs and fungi, and teaching and sharing this passion with others. Feel free to ask him about natural remedies for spring allergies, or the best use for that garden herb your grandmother planted! |
Ashe Harris

Ashe is a social justice worker from Durham, who has what some would call an "unhealthy obsession" with her pit bull, but she doesn't agree. She loves the south - especially the trees in Durham. She can't wait to meet your four legged friends, and spend some quality time. |
